high pitched sound when braking

ok, recently its turned a little cold here in NY, and i've started noticing this problem .... when my cars cold ... i.e. around 15-20 mins after starting up, when i apply the brakes, even if i dont hit them real hard i hear this screetching sound that goes like "eeeeeeeeeeeeee" untill my car comes to a complete stop .... this doesnt happen if i start brakin gently like wayyy wayyyy before a light or something, but anything sudden or normal braking causes this sound ...

i was wondering if thats because of the weather or if it shouldnt be happening at all ??? couple of months back my brake oil was leaking and honda had to replace some of the braking stuff .... could this be a related issue ???

thanks !

Sounds like your brake pads are worn out

I have 8k on my car, I really doubt they are worn down already. I broke in the brakes properly(never applied 100% of braking force before the first 300 miles). Im thinking its the actual material the brake pads are made of,seems like the lower the temperature is the harder the material gets thos making noise when applying the brakes at low speeds right before coming to a complete stop.

but make shure you dont come in with any after market up grades beacuse I garantee you that the service advisor will tell you "since you have an after market intake, your brakes pads have worn down since all the vtec you have been hitting" lol

Same here folks, I began hearing this high pitched squeel upon starting out for the first time that day, and after the car has sat parked for a few hours. Only have 6k mi on my sedan (16 mo. old) breaks and cold weather shouldn't affect breaks this soon. The squeeling sound is extremely loud especially in the morning. Taking sedan into service today, will report remedy, hopefully.

I remember speaking to a technician about this problem and I was told that it's because of the condensation, which can be explained if the weather turns cold and if you've left your car in the garage overnight.

It'll go away after a couple of brakings. No worries.

probably ice on the rotor due to driving condition and temperatures going from high 30s during the day melting the snow to low 20s at night....

Took the sedan in for a check up with regard to the squeeling breaks, clanging sound comming from the front dash area. Service said nothing wrong with brakes, cleaned out some dust and dirt, said brakes are fine. As you can guest said did not hear any sound from dash area going over any bumps. They probably would have looked at me crossed eyed if I would have mentioned sepintine belt fix for droning sound at 15k rpm. So I guest I'll have to look for another honda service spot in the NYC area. Lastly, one of the mechanics put a whole in my rear bumper when backing out of a tight spot. they are going to replace entire rear bumper and back light. What a day cats! What else should I BE ASKING FOR. They did cop to the accident and said the light and bumper should be in around 3 days, where they will call me to bring the sedan in, and provide me with a loaner car until work is done. need feed back?
