cracked engine block recall 06-08 civics

HI guys, i own a 08 civic LX sedan and i noticed couple of dripping liquid under my engine and i didn't even bother to check and 2 weeks later my buddy told me that there is a huge puddle of anti-freeze/coolant dripping from my car,and i checked the coolant level and it was EMPTY...i filled it up with anti freeze just to make it to my house and that's like 5miles away from work...

i drove it to poway Honda and they said i have a Cracked Engine Block! they explained everything that they will cover everything and i'm covered with 8 yrs extended warranty...check your local dealer for the recall list of your Honda.

just wanted to share my experience and to give a heads up.

Drive Safe Guys...Bwaaaaaa!

New short block with old parts swapped over.

At the dealership now- over heard a tech and advisor talking about why they don't understand Honda only covering a short block. "so much room for error". "will only cost more when problems arise in a few months" "does anybody even have recent experience with installing pistons".....

Sure now which dealership I won't be using, should I need a repair.

I'm looking for a Civic for my daughter and drove at '06 today with 146,000 miles. The owner told me the engine only had 40,000 on it as it had been replaced just three years ago.

I Google '06 Civic engines which brings me here. I'm seeing red flags all over the place.

Finally, my question:

For any of you with '06 Civics, how have things gone after? I'm not a mechanic and need something reliable for my daughter to take to college. Our family has owned four Honda but none newer than '03.

This particular car is a EX-Navi. $7,500.

Any advice appreciated.

Does anyone have a recall number or notice that they can scan and put up here? We bought a 08 EX a little while ago and I want to be sure ours is covered. We bought it from a dealership so I'm sure they checked it but being a Toyota Tech myself I know how something like that (checking for open recalls) can be overlooked. Yes, I know I can call the dealer and they can tell me if it's been completed or not, I just wanna look for myself (and I don't trust my Honda dealer, but we'll just leave that out of this).

Honda's are super reliable, which I'm sure you know, judging by your experience. I would just suggest you find a lower mileage car for your daughter. At the very least, it's worth the peace of mind, IMO.

hey i hydroplaned into a ditch a while ago and took it to the shop but have noticed a loss in power since then. would it be possible to be an engine crack? also noticed some fluid leaking, only twice, but it was enough to leave a puddle under the car. someone told me its just AC. any help?
