DIY: Rear Deck Rattle Fix

i've been hearing about rear deck rattles around the boards, and i've recently gotten a couple of speakers in the back and my car has been having this rattling from the deck like crazy.

so finally i was fed up with it and i decided to do something about it.

i folded down my rear seats and played a song to find out where the rattle came from.

turns out most of it was from this:

(the part where the rear seat touches)

with some paper towels and a funny little tool i found i went to work

you have to lay on your back (not very comfortable at all) and just wedge up the paper towels into the area between the plastic and metal

knock a couple times and if you hear a rattling you know you have to stuff some paper towels in that area

finished!

took about 20 minutes to do.

the rattle used to be so bad with my rear seat down now i can hardly notice it and the bass hits so much harder.

Uh - you sure you did not just post that to show off your subs, box and amp?
Good write up though, I am going to give it a shot when I get home.
Nice subs, I have 1 of the dual voice coil ones.

:face-icon

i thought it would make the thread a little more interesting but ill take them out for you

slight update: theres another slight rattle..

im going out to work on it right now, im planning on finding some material and placing it inbetween the rear glass and 3rd brake light part to see if that fixes it. kind of a ghetto fix but if it works then hey.

if not then i'll just have to take the whole deck out and work on it
