Check your tires!!

Took my car in for an oil change and a rotate and balance.
2007 SI Coupe, 18000 miles, 4th oil change, 4th rotate and balance.

The service writer came in and told me that he couldn't rotate or balance the tires.
The tires are shot, he told me.
I'm thinking this guy is nuts, it's a brand new car.
Sure enough every tire was cupped, chopped and wearing uneven.

The service mananger comes over and tells me I should rorate my tires more. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I tell him this is the 4th oil change and rotate and balance. I tell him this is a new car. He says it's a 06', I stop him and tel him and tell him it's a 07'.
Deer in the head light look, he tells me he has to look something up.

Thirty minutes later he comes out and tells me that there is obiviously a problem, they didn't have any tires in stock.
He told me that he would call me first part of the week, and we'll put news on for you and check the alignment.

The funny part was I was telling him "look, I don't want to go into it, but I realy do know what I'm talking about and there's something wrong here" the whole time I had forgotten to take off a name tag I wear when I do Warranty inspectons at dealerships.

Check your tires.

I check my tire pressure once a month and inspect them at the same time.

At 7000 miles on my LX sedan, I had feathering on the front two tires. Dealership at their cost aligned twice in 1000 miles and still could not get the car to not pull to the right.

Finally a differently dealership got the car to go much straighter and the feather has not returned.

Thanks!

18,000 miles on an 07? Boy, you must do alot of driving. No wonder you're getting the oil changed and tires rotated every 4,500 miles. Glad everything is working out for you though.

No a little louder than stock, but not much.
The Injen does have a Tin sound to it at high RPM.

Surprising that you rotate every ~4500 miles and still had bad wear issues. Is this something that you can see for yourself in the tires? I thought ~4K was a perfect interval to avoid any weird wear issues. Im intrigued now...

rub your hand from side to side and along the tread of your tire. If there is a abnorml wear issue (alignment ect.) you'll feel it because it will have waves, feathering ect.

23500 miles on my 7 month old LX coupe. no abnormal wear on any of the tires, had them rotated at 18000 and inflated to 34psi for mpg reasons. Car is still the same as day one

CAr is back. 4 new tire and alignment. Drive is 100% better.

They put in GM syncromesh <--spelling?
There is a bulleton on this, it was free. Shift is better, 3rd is alot better.

Car is not twitchy like it was berfore, feels more planted.

The big news is. I told them about a clunk I was hearing and feeling. They told me that they checked the motor mount, they where not sure if it is bad. They are changing that out too. It's on order it will be in next week.

It took me 4 visits to get the mount finally ordered and installed. They swore up and down the mount was fine.

The minute I got the car back and hit some bumps, noise was gone

True, the OEM on my wifes 03 and now 05 corolla even with alignments don't last past 20K.

They use the cheapest bridgestones or goodyears.

At least on the new civic they use a slightly better RS-A goodyear.
