I like to rev up in neutral...

I love the sound that the car makes when you accelareate (car not moving) in neutral up to the rev limiter at about 6000 rpm, it won't go beyond that. As soon it reaches this point the engine sound changes to an awesome sound. even better if you have an intake.

Is this bad for my engine?

Yes, it's bad.

5500 RPM Rev Limiter

Cliffs: There's no load on the engine => bad.

Hope that answers everything.

Yep, it's bad. There's a reason the car is limited to 6000RPM while the car is not moving. If you want to hear the sound of your car, you might as well do it while driving.

I thought the limiter was set at 5500 rpm. Is it different for the 07 models? Assuming the host has an 07?

I don't see the point in revving to the red line in neutral.

its just as well NOT to rev cuz of the drive-by-wire rev-hang issue... its sounds AWFUL like you dont know how to drive or something is terribly wrong with your car while it haaangs at the high RPM IMO.

just say no to neutral/zero-load revving. period. kthxnext. :)
