Does that really work? - Cruise control suite

I heard that there's some cruise control suite which would add cruise control feature to the civic w/o cruise..
It's said it's the original component from Honda's manufactories.
I'm not sure if it's true?
anybody has idea? :P

that looks like the honda part there

the only way i think to do cruise control on a civic would be to install the honda parts because of the DBW system, theres no cable to clip onto, just an electronic signal

In the nearly 8 months I've owned my lx I've never used the cruise control, not once. I don't like it, rather do it myself. Plus all that **** you hear about running into a puddle and skidding out....no thanks.

My volvo had it too and I used it occasionally, but driving that car was boring as hell - complete 180 from my civic lol.

What's the furthest you've driven? I don't know about you, but if I'm going on a 15-20 hour trip, I want to use cruise control. Besides, the muscles in your leg can get very tense after keeping your foot on the gas for an extended period of time. As far as the safety issue you mention, if you use common sense, it won't be a problem.

The reason why I don't like cruise is because if the car needs to pick up speed it kicks down into a different gear and it gets really loud and noisy.

Furthest I've driven? That would be the time I went from here (NW Ohio) to Baltimore, MD - about 500 miles, 7/8 hours. Didn't use cruise control at all, and only stopped once for like 10 minutes

I didn't know that it can save you gas though, that might just make me use it...except in the rain lol.

its considered a gas saver since you don't have the human factor in continually speeding up, then daydream and slow down, then speeding up again. but, if you cruise through hilly terrain, the cruise control will hit the gas pretty hard going uphill. i don't know how much that affects gas, but i just don't like seeing my rpms jump that much.

I honestly didn't know they still make cars without cruise control. Every cheap ass car I ever seen, had one. Apparently 06 Civics don't. It is a nice feature though, one more step towards driver-less auto. Not sure about all the gas savings, sometimes it gives gas, reaching 5000 RPM when it needs to catch up. I also don't think just adding controls will give that feature, you might need a lot of other things installed. Maybe buying an EX from the start would be good idea.

Lx's come w/ cc here in america.

I use it all the time on the freeway. I have a 100 mile commute from home to school so when i do go home its a great way to save gas.

It worked wonders on my benz, it had a epa of 28 freeway and i would get about 34 w/ cruise control
