5 Speed Shift Problem, gear don't "pop"

I have this weird shfting problem with my car. (06 Civic LX coupe) My shifting feels slushy. I feel like I have to push through this mud for it to get into gear. Before I would just pop into gear. I just force it a bit till it reaches a point and it just pops into gear. There is no more "poping" in my gears.

They only weird thing is that it's only not poping in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. Basically all the top gears on the shift knob don't pop. My 2nd, 4th, and rever just pop right into place when I shift. I can't seem to think of a problem.

I have some mods on the shifting area of the car. I have the comptech short shifter and corsport metal bushings.

Any advice would help greatly, thanks in advance.

Perhaps put the stock bushings back in a see if that makes a difference. If not, there may be a deeper problem within.

sounds like one of the detents inside of the transmission isn't working properly

I've never looked at these transmissions specifically but others i have opened up have ball detents which are what give you that really positive feel and let you know its in gear. If those were some how messed up you would loose that positive feel when you put it in gear. I would check your short shifter and make sure its still on there tight along with your bushings. If they all look good i would take it in and have a tec diagnose it.

^ at which point you're likely to hear "Short Shifter? So you race it, drive aggressively. I'm going to go ahead and void your warranty for any transmission service". Not saying that will happen, but, logically, they might not like it.
Before you take it in, I put it all back to stock and 1) see if that corrects the problem, and 2) avoid the hassle from the service monkey. YOu can always put it back in once you get the problem corrected.

OK... for some reason now its back to normal so I know its in gear for 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. I just left the car in the garage with the driver side window down a bit and it was fixed today. I was like WTF when I took it out for a spin. I don't think leaving the window down did anything...

I can feel the gears going in properly without the mushy feel.

i have somewhat similar problem. when i'm down shifting my car wont go into gear smoothly. like 4th gear is the hardest gear to down shift smoothly. even when im on a complete stop and try to put it into 1st it wont go in smoothly. i took it to the dealer and they said everything was okay and the guy test drove it. he said i might not be pressing the clutch all the way so i was like well maybe thats what im doing wrong without noticing. but now i've had the clutch in all the way and im sure of it and it still happens.

My EX sometimes has trouble going into 2nd. I'm switching the tranny fluid to Amsoil Syth and hopefully that will help.
