HELLPPP!! Manual tranny problem

ok well when im in gear and lets say im cruising at 40 in 4th gear n then i press down on the gas, the RPM of the car jumps from 2500 to 5000..what do you think this could be?!?!?!?!

are you sure it is in 4th gear complety?

do you have you foot on the clutch pedal


sounds like a slipping clutch

hmm, do you drive with your foot resting on the clutch? if you do that could cause the throwout barring to wear out. could be a possibilty

So you're in gear... And you press the gas and your RPM's go up. Mabye it's cause you pushed the gas causing you to accelerate?

Uh, this isn't an automatic, hence the thread title "Manual tranny problem". Therefore, the RPM's should NOT jump up when you press the gas. :face-icon

Nice try with the sarcasm, but if you're going to pick on someone, you should at least try to be logical in the process.

unless you shift to high gear then it is jumping..
