My Si doesn't do it by my 94 del sol does and when I need to put it in first I just push the clutch in twice and it slips right in. So try doing that, it works for my friend's cars to but I would go to the dealer and have them check it out. Maybe they can replace the syncrose or tell you if something is wrong. But i would try double clutching first.

try this as well.. since 1st and 2nd are in the same line.. go to second first.. and then slip it into first..it is the way it is layed out.. try downshifting as well it helps.. look at the graphic here on this site.. gives you good info on tranny's (not that kind..lol) works for me! but when in doubt take it to the dealer...
