Just made the switch to GM Synchromesh

Just wanted to say that after 12 months and 12,500 miles, I just drained my OEM MTF (which was overfilled BTW) to GM Synchromesh. All I can say is WOW. If I knew the difference this would make, I wouldn't have hesitated so long. Without a doubt, the best "maintenance mod" I have ever done.

I've never had any tranny problems outside of the 1-2 grind sound when doing a high rpm shift... that and third gear tended to be notchy at times (but never did it pop out or anything like that... just didn't always go in real smooth).

I was going to use Amsoil but couldn't find a local dealer, so I just went to a local dealership that sells Acura and Pontiac and picked up 2 qts. And after making the change, I have ZERO notchiness, grind, whatever. It feels better than a brand new tranny. For the record I do have the Comptech SS, which made throws feel more direct. But the MTF change made them feel smooth as butter. I highly reccomend making the change to anyone who isn't 100% satisfied with the way their tranny feels in regard to the notchiness, etc.

I just changed to the Amsoil and it is buttery smooth also but in the cold still have some notchiness/mechanical feel when getting into 2nd. Once it warms up that mainly goes away. Over-all very satiesfied.

ive never seen a k-series tranny not have some kind of grind or notchy feeling once in a while. i prefer penzoil syn mesh to the honda mtf, i just wonder how much faster are my synchro's gonna wear out.
