2nd gear problem

when i get on it and take it up to 8, i go to shift into 2nd quickly and it kinda locks it out and grinds and wont go into gear... has anyone else had this problem?

i also heard something about transmissions being overfilled from the factory.. could this effect what im experiencing?

i have the SS and bushings too... which should have helped this..

i have ss and bushings also but i have never had a 2nd gear problem. The only gear ive had a problem with is 3rd and it just pops it right back out.

There are quite a few threads regarding this. The SS will not help you. The bushings may, but you might wanna look into having your tranny fluid changed.

If you are shifting from 1-2 VERY fast it will grind. The syncros can't keep up. From what I've read here it is totally normal. People usually notice it once they get an ss (because they can shift very quickly...

nope... The syncros do keep up. I've done it a shitload of times. I just had to adjust the clutch pedal in order for it to stop grinding

Change your tranny fluid to Amsoil or GM syncromesh, add shifter cable bushings, add a ss braided clutch line and call me in the morning.

You are exactly right, I have had the same experience. It's even worse when it is cold out for me - when it warms up it seems to go away. It has to be the syncros. When I shift fast, there is a timing difference between when it will let me into second and when I am trying to get it into second. First is the same way on the opposite side as it "holds on" or pinches as I am trying to get out. Again, the warmer it gets outside and the warmer the tranny is, the better it has been for me for some reason.
