Help: Front bumber mis-aligned!!

Okay everyone, I removed my front bumper to install my fogs and also to take some pics of the temp/uv/ice sensor for my rearview mirror.... (see My new Rear View Mirror )

Anyways, I can't get that tight fit on the inner part of the bumper that is where the head lights are at.

Frustrating. I spent 2 hours trying to get this to work. I was able to get a perfect fit for either side, but then the otherside would be way off and could not reach the end point that snaps near the wheel well.

BTW, the fogs were a disaster. In my head, yellow looked nice, but now I wish I had clear fogs. So anyone w/ a black ride, learn from my mistake.

Anyone else notice this with their civic? It's just frustrating becuase I'm able to get a much tighter fit on one side.... but alas, the other side won't snap in.
Hopefully I'm just paranoid.

Your paranoid, lol

Usually I push on the bumper where the high beams are when tightening the bolt on the grill to the body. But it will still leave a gap.

I have the same problem, except mine is uneven. One side is tucked under the head light while the other sticks out.

I have it too. If you get a second person to help you, you can usually make the fit tight and even on both sides.

My only worry was water getting in their near the fogs & everything else... but I suppose the grill pretty much allows water in there so it shouldn't matter.

Point is, it was originally perfectly tight and now it's not. I popped my civic's cherry Hope she forgives me.

Did you replace all the plastic things that snap when you take them off?

I took off my front bumper to replace the headlights and I now have this same gap on my driver's side. I left all the plastic things off since they're such a pain so that might be a reason why.

You got to force it into the bracket where the light is. I have to push it very hard to snap it in this Sunday. My foglight crack from road debris..

So you got a perfect fit? How did you put the bumper back on? (top part first near the 'H' and lights, then left/right sides, then bottom.... or bottom first, then... etc.)

Should I be able to force that it without taking off the bumper again?

Thanks :)

i had the same problem.....to fix it get a drill and extend the holes next to the grill that the bolts go through. if you extend the hole slightly further down you can then pull the bumper up from that area and the bolt next to the grill will hold it in place. i did that and it has held it in place ever since.

and to whoever said that they left all the clips out.....putting them in would definatly help.

I'm confused, do you mean drill new holes above the existing ones (i can see how that would raise the bumper some). Too simple for me to comprehend Pics would be great

no dont drill complete new holes, but extend the ones that are there down a little bit (about 1/2")...so it is more like an oval. you can then pull /push up on the bumper so that it is against the headlight and tighten the bolt down. i will try to take pics tonight if you still need them.

I think everyone's Civic will look like that. It isn't going to be perfect. My 98 accord was way worse.
