Exclamation Seat belt bolt won't go back into my car!

So I was installing some new wiring today in my LX Coupe and I needed to remove the seatbelt on the driver's side (bottom bolt) from the car in order to get the panels all the way off. Somehow the bolt is not going back into the hole that I got it out of...

I have no idea what's going on here. There at no obstructions, and I have even tried getting the bolt back in my itself with no panel and it just doesn't screw in for some reason? Is there something special about the seat belt bolt that I don't know about? This is a pretty big pretty seeming as how I need a selt belt to drive you know...

Is there anything else I can try? Did I somehow strip the hole that the bolt goes into or something (I don't know if this is even possible).

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to try and get my seatbelt installed how it was.

Thanks for your help.

Dealership. Now. If it is stripped, they can save it. They can clean out those threads like new, and it will be a cheap repair. trust me.

did you take the seat out. Cause sometime, the 4 bolt that hold the seat down. 1 of them is usely bigger then the other. You probaly took one of the bolts and try to fit it.

No man, just this one bolt. Looks like I just need it re-threaded I guess.

the same thing happened to me last week. i ended up stripping the bolt by accident trying to get it in. my father who has all the taps and dyes (tools to rethread) fixed it for me. while fixing it he was suprised to find out that even though the bolt is metric it has standard threads (dont know why they would have done that?). if you try to attempt to fix it yourself keep that in mind...it took us a while to figure that part out.

I went to my dealership here (which sucks) and my guy that I always have just told me that it'd be at least 100 bucks to get them to look at it and find out what's wrong.

I drove off.

Then I went to O'reily's.
He told me to go to the bolt place.
I went to the bolt place.
This nice lady came out to my car looked at the bolt, and gave me another bolt.
It was a helluva time getting the damn little washers off the original bolt, but I did it.

I handed the lady a dollar. She said lemme get your change. I said, no thanks.

I fixed it in the parking lot.
I left.

Cliffs:
Honda wants to charge me a minimum of 100 dollars.
I fixed it for less than one dollar.

The bolt was just stripped on the first two threads.

All cars sold in the US have the same threads for the seat belt bolts regardless of country of manufacture etc, of course because standard is that standard here - it is a standard thread - Its a DOT regulation.

Where did you go to get this bolt or does anyone know the size of it? Mine's stripped too, it had to be stripped when it came out of the car because it was stripped when I went to put it back in, I never could get it to start to thread and you can see the last two or three treads on the bolt are smashed.

crap, I was just about to ask how you guys removed the seatbelt... guess I'll just set my seat out to the side and leave the 'belt attached so I don't run into any situations like yours.
