beware! clutch pedal must be replaced as a whole

so recently, the rubber stops on the Si's clutch pedal fell off. naturally, i went to get it fixed (2 month old car) and they ordered me the rubber layer for the whole clutch steping area. then next day when i bring in the car, it took them 2 hrs to work on the car. i think to myself, it doens't think a genius to unscrew the 3 screws, swap the new rubber layer in and screw it back on. WHAT IS GOING ON? turns out u CAN'T unscrew the screws, u can't replace the rubber layer, U HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FREAKING CLUTCH with the stem! i have yet gone in the get it replaced, i'm afraid it's a BIG job and they would need to unmount all my coverings.... anyone a mechanic? is it a big job to replace the clutch pedal with the stem?

if this doesn't make count, post here and i try to explain myself better.

Are you kidding!!! We have to replace the entire clutch pedal and stem to change the worn rubber? If this is accurate someone at honda engineering needs to be slapped.

I'm a bit confused as to which part was replaced. Can you point it out on the following diagram (part #)?

#27 is the SI clutch pedal pad.If there's a number on it you should be able to buy it.

Is that from a parts catalogue 8thgenuser?

Yes, it's from an online parts catalog. Most OEM online parts dealers will have a picture on their site. This particular one is from hondapartsdeals.com.

also looking at the picture above it seems to be riveted on. So the old rivet needs to be drilled out and the new one put in.

Doesnt seem too complicated. Doesnt seem as though replacing the whole pedal mechanism would be cost efficient.

Are they saying this is a warranty repair?
If not they are just ripping you off.
Or the mechanics/service manager are trying to make some money off the dealership.

yes, i'm referring to part #27, although u can get the parts. u CAN'T install them cuz u CAN'T unscrew the screws that hole the metal plate, rubber, and the clutch pedal. took my dealer 1hr to TRY to drill it out. so now they going to replace the ENTIRE clutch pedal with the long stem.

yes this is warranty, and i'm gong to make sure they do a good job at it. update u guys later

The clutch pedal assy. is actually very easy to remove. There are like 3 bolts that you need to losen completely + a guide bolt(#22). And the assy. can be removed completely. Be AWARE that by removing the bolts for the pedal assy. you also free the clutch master cylinder. In other words, the removal of the pedal assy is the same as if you were removing the CMC..

After doing a little research on this I found instructions on how to remove and install a new brake pedal pad but when checking the clutch pad it says to replace the whole clutch pedal which really doesn't make any sense but it seems to be what they need to do.

to charge you double for thier job...

if ever they replace the whole clutch pedal assembly, make sure to get the part that they take out... they cant say no since you pay for the whole thing...

Yeah but it's warranty so it doesn't matter in this case.If anyone is noticing the same problem get warranty to fix it while you still have it.

yup, lol. at least 4 me. i would much prefer them to unscrew the rivets since u guys say it's doable. save me the time and risk of them screwing up other parts when they install the entire clutch. blahhhhhhh

We offer the rubber piece separately for $6 shipped and $10 for the pair. Our rubber inserts will fit the Si pedals, however you will need to rerivet them onto your pedals.
