Could be a bubble in your tires... or a bent rim. The latter is harder to diagonse unless you get the car up on a lift. I haven't rotated the tires on my last two cars for 25k miles and I never had steering wheel shakes, EVER... only when I hit a curb or pothole really hard, then its the two things I mentioned... bubble in the tire or a bent rim.

Vince: I've rotated the tires at approximately 5,000 mile intervals (when I do my oil changes).
The shaking has gradually stopped. I'm guessing it was just the snow and ice getting into my tires. I've thought of it being a bent rim, but figured the problem was too intermittent for it to be a bent rim (hope that makes sense as I've never had a bent rim). |

I agree with the linear balance, if the wheel only has weights on the inside of the wheel you will get some vibration at high speeds. On another note make sure they zero your balance out some tire shops will spin it within a .25oz and send you on the way. If you complain about it they call you a glass a** behind the shop doors..lol..Its to bad that you do not have a Les Schwab in Canada eh they can spin them within .01 fora little extra cash.
