Window scrape sound
Tonight I discovered that there is a scraping noise when my window is about 2-4 inches from rolling back up. This goes for both windows. I got my windows tinted last Sunday. I have rolled them up and down in the morning on the same day and prior to that day, but there was no scraping sound present. I examined my windows and saw that there were several streaks left on the inside however without scratches. The streaks are able to wipe/clean off.
So now I'm worried about having to hear that dreaded noise when rolling my windows back up. I have no idea what it is. Possibly the window tint? Maybe my windows are dirty or there is something in the way? Someone please help me!!!

I have this same problem on my passenger side after I got my tint. It's like a squeaky sound and happens right before it closes. Not really sure how to fix it yet. It goes away when I wipe it but it comes back a few days later. I think there is some 3M window lube you can get...

I found out what was wrong with mine! My tint guy said some cars just have a tight squeeze with the added tint. But I looked into it and there was a part of the rubber flap that was still folded down. The tint shop pushes the flaps down when they do their tinting. Our Honda's have 2 flaps. The obvious one on the outside of the window was up. If you roll your window all the way down, you can spread those flaps open with a pair of chopsticks. If you look through there, you can see another set of flaps just like the top ones. I used chopsticks and followed the flap all way down to the other end of the window. A part of it, where it was leaving streaks on my window, was still folded down. Just use the chopstick and run the flap all the way you up and you're good! If you want, ask your tint guy to do it, he should have a special tool. Hopefully that will solve your problem!

All right. So I flipped up the window flaps today; the windows work perfectly now. However, since the flaps have been creased down, they are now convoluted! It looks so bad! I'll take a picture of it and post it later on. Not only that, the tint that was on my window got damaged at the top and has scratches, as mentioned in the prior post. But anyway, I am going to show the tint guy and maybe threaten him a little.
How much does it cost to get the window flaps replaced? |

I would think this is the fault of the tint guy, so if he's reputable, he should replace the scratched tint and maybe fund the flaps. I'm assuming he said you can roll down the windows, but he didn't know that he didn't get both sets of flaps all the way rolled up. You can't see the lower flaps in my car that were folded down (flaps are inside the door), so I haven't had to replace em. Not sure how much it is to replace... Good luck!

The flaps inside my door are also convoluted. I'm getting it redone on Sunday so I'll keep you updated. |
