power steering problems

When it gets really cold outside like below freezing and i start my car the power steering light comes on and i have no power steering. all i have to do is let it warm up a lil bit and then restart the car and its fixed. just wondering if anyone else had this problem. i looked real quick through the site and did not find anything so if its a repost sorry. i talked to the dealership and they said that they were going to have to actually see the problem and i cant go with out a car. any suggestions?

yeah i posted it a coulpe times, it happens to me once in a while, 3 times in a row about 8 months ago, and every now and then, i went to the dealer and they said they could not find anything, then again on the phone the manager told me that the fluid might be low, wtf, there is no fluid, they told me that when i lose the power and the light is on then i have to bring it in and thats the only way they could help

Obviously it cannot be steering fluid because the 06 SI is electronic..hence we have no fluid.....I haven't had any issues on my SI like you are describing...The coldest it's been here Northern IN has been about maybe 15 degrees F.

Take it to the dealer and tell them to hook up their HDS and read the historical codes. Every time the EPS ECU throws a light it records everything (vehicle speed, temperature, RPM, steering speed, battery voltage... & and a DTC). Kind of like the black box function for SRS ECU's.

They should be able to tell from that what to do next. Find out what codes you're getting, it would be interesting to know.
