False advertising ??
Are you kidding??? You want your money back too ? Yes your dealer will do something....laugh you out of the place. I don't own an Si but a standard type Civic and NO it doesn't get what the EPA sticker said and NO I didn't expect it to since that sticker is merely an estimate of expected fuel economy (and a poor one at that) for use as a comparison between similar sized vehicles. Does Canada use a similar system? The U.S. version is notorously optimistic in most cases. Finally, exactly what fuel economy do you get? and what did you expect? Your expectations may be unrealistic and you actual mileage may be normal.

heres what you should do.. fill up your tank.. like.. all the way.. drive 100km.. fill up again n see how much u put in.. that should be ur x liter per 100km.. easy.. also, please do not trust the meter.. its very inaccurate. for example, i drove 80km on my first bar.. then 80 more n 4 just got ticked.. like.. wtf eh? just fill up and drive till u cant n get a reading on ur odometer..so far my best is 500 with 2 bars left.. 16km later, 1 bar.. kinda cheap ... |

I dont rely on the bars. To calculate mpg I clear my odometer everytime I fill up and divide milage traveled at the next fill up by the amount of gas I pump into the car. Don't try to top off because that will slightly affect your calculated mpg unless you top off everytime.
I have a 1000 miles on the car now and so far I have filled up 3 times. I do a mix of hwy and hwy stop and go, as result my mpgs have been 34, 36, 35.5. Tomorrow I am going to change the oil to synthetic because I put on 25,000 miles a year and I feel better with more portection. I am looking forward to hit that 40mph mark and I will report back if I do. I think the max range on the civic is around 400-425miles with the efficiency I am getting. I do not know how you guys drive but to give you a better picture I rarely rev over 3krpm from a stop and I travel around 71-75mph on the freeway. Hope this will help to figure out if your engine is busted. |
