Bleeding the Clutch

Hi, I told my friend that I didn't like the soft clutch feeling when i step on it and he told me to bleed the clutch. Can someone explain to me what this is? and how to do it? and also, is it safe to do this on the 06 SI?

Bleeding the clutch is something you do to get rid of air in your clutch line because air compresses. I highly doubt that with such a new car that you would need to bleed your clutch.

Unless you have a faulty clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, or lines.

Otherwise, you car is too new to require you to bleed the clutch lines.

Go to the dealership and step on another clutch of the same model for comparison.

if there was a problem with air in the lines, then yes bleeding your clutch would make it feel stiffer. It would be stiffer in comparison to a clutch with a problem, but it would not make it any stiffer than a clutch working correctly from the factory. Has it felt soft since you got it or is this something that you just noticed? If it has been doing it since you got it that probably means its ok. Also if you did have air in the lines it would probably mean you have a leak in the system which would also probably mean the problem will get progressively worse.

that would be tru if there was air in the lines like sum1 above stated but considering it's a brand new car i don't think that there is any air in there....

...on a side note my clutch is rather hard and short for a stock clutch, i'm comparing mine to other stock Si clutches...

no no no, i don't think i have a problem...i love the way it feels.....it's just the other Si owners think that it feels different......ask marvie, my clutch pedal sits like 1"-2" lower than any other stock clutch and you only have to press my clutch like another 1"-2" to engage it.....allows for quicker shifting.....lol.....
