3000 miles or 5000 miles

Okay... so, i was always tought that your should have your oil changed every 3000 miles... well, my honda service contract has my service intervals at like every 5000 miles. So, do you guys know if which one is right?

On my family's older accords, we tend to change the oil every 3000. When I took in my 06 si at 4500 miles they kinda laughed at me cause my oil guage was only at 40% or something. They said they'll change it whenever, but the new civics can run around 7500miles or so... not sure i'd ever do that haha. I think this has been discussed in really great detail on here before, so forgive me if i've repeated/errored something.

Usually it's 3000 if you're running regular oil, 5000 if you're running synthetic.

I run synthetic and changed mine at about 4900 miles this last time and the oil still looked good so you wont run into any problems but its up to you if you are comfortable waiting that long.

I go anywhere from 7500 to 10,000 miles on full synthetic. If you are unsure about the mileage get an oil analysis and that will tell you the condition of the fluids.

How long does it take for you to put that many miles on?

if the dealership is doing it, it should be over 5000 miles or when that little reminder for you to change your oil pops up and says "O"

4000 miles with a good quality oil and good quailty filter like pureone or mobile 1.

If you go to full synthetic with good quailty oil filter maybe 6000-7000

It usually takes about 5 to 6 months to put that many miles on. I do 2 oil changes per year. I have had great luck with my cars doing that.

I went in to change my oil at 3000 and they told me to not bring it in until the oil life was down to 20%.
