In theory you're correct about the poutine cloging the transmission. But in practice it seems to work better for me.

Oh and you must be super rich to give whale blubber and walrus tusks to your dogs!! Shoot that's what I feed my girlfriend.

Update: I haven't noticed any 3rd gear grind whatsoever since I put the Amsoil fluid in. Shifts are generally very smooth, even when the car is cold. I do still notice a small bit of notchiness going from 3rd to 4th sometimes, but nothing is grinding. I recommend anyone experiencing less than smooth shifts change their fluid out right away.

I was all set to change my MTF yesterday but sometimes life gets in the way. I had some errands to run and take my puppy to class. That along with rain and no garage made it tough so I hope I can take care of it this week. I really want to see how third improves with Amsoil.

Man, I love that bbq comic. It's so funny! I agree with the amsoil. I put it in after installing the twm kit and bushings and it is short, solid, and silky smooth. Without the amsoil though it was still notchy and crunchy. It's good stuff and I highly recommend it.

Today, I swapped out the old Honda MTF for Amsoil's Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF) and so far, my 3rd gear hasn't grinded YET.

Product
https://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mtf.aspx

Vehicle
2007 Honda Civic Si with 2070 km's

Test conditions
I drove only a few km's home, only because I wanted to do a FULL test when the transaxle is cold. So far, it is -3 out, (27 ?) and the 3km trip home, 3rd gear wasn't a problem. Usually in-town driving is where my 3rd gear problems occur: popping out, grinding in, and when you think the gear is in, it's not etc.

So far, it seems to have fixed the problem. Paid only $20 CDN for 2 quarts, and I believe the tranny either takes 1.5 or 1.7 (got my local shop to change for me for a box of donuts).

NEW!
UPDATE: After many tests involving various shifts, engine temperature (from cold to warm) rpms, speeds, hills or not the conclusion is that the AMSOIL MTF fluid 100% fixed my shifting problem. I shifted 53 times (to be exact) to 3rd from in town driving to highway. Even when the car was cold it shifted great. No notchy crap at all. I am 100% sold. This isn't a psychological thing either . Out of all those driving conditions and number of times going to 3rd gear I would have at least grinded 3rd four times without that fluid.

Have you honestly tried the GMS-FM to compare against, or are you a refuser? I'm trying the Royal Purple complete line (5-30, 5-20, Syncromax, R9) including the fully synthetic race oil (havent got to this one yet), and so far the GMS-FM has outperformed in cold weather. 25-45F is where I see the biggest gains with GMS-FM. I've never liked Amsoil marketing much. I've read many boards where their sales guys highjack threads and brainwash you into believing thier products outpreform others by large margins, where truly its apples to apples. I believe its good, but not that good. I'm a solid believer in products with history (1985 to present GMS-FM has solved many MT problems in many different brands of tranny) and the tactile feedback I get from my right hand. Nothing feels better than the GMS-FM, and I hate GM!
