exhaust getting louder in the rain

i have read of this on the internet but theres a couple of things i question? has this happened to any one else with the si or any car.

driving in the rain mostly on roads with poor drainage, so you get allot of puddles, my guess from what i have read is that the cold water soaking the hottt exhaust, it sounds like the car is backfiring when you let off,

my ? is does this harm the exhaust, motor, car in any way. i dont think it would but a lil more professional oppinions. and my 2nd ? how exactly is this caused. thanks

Sorry, I disagree. If your car is backfiring, I take it into the dealer for them to look at it.

Also, what mods (if any) do you have?

he said it sounds like it's backfiring, but how can it be from only rain?

if there's other factors then yea, have it checked out

i appolagize, i have the injen sri and neuspeed catback,

at first i thought that i was sucking in water because of the noise but after i realized that the car wasnt at all slugish or show any driving problems i felt around the filter to see if there was any water, nothing.

i did a little bit of reserch and found out that it was the cold water on the hot exhaust,

the car isnt backfiring, the sound is like a verry loud backpressure popping sound, like a backfire,

well i found a couple of more forums that have discussed this but i didnt want to bore any one with them, i do think the rain itself does it but not in that sense. i think the rain does it, most of the time i have the music on too loud to hear the exhaust, but when this problem happens i can tell cuz i can feel the vibrations from the exhaust through the arm rest, guys call me crazy but let it happen to you first or at least reserch it, i wish i wasnt the only one that this happened to so im not the only one.

i was just gonna ask you if it were popping sounds
looks like you've described it
i've got the magnaflow exhaust...
if the popping happens when you downshift, it happens with an aftermarket exhaust

personally, i love hearing that popping sound at downshift. don't think its bad, its just letting out exhausts where as the stock exhaust restricts a lot of it. if its jsut while your driving though... i'm not sure, but i've heard many tuned cars have that pop at downshift, so no worries.

well yeah i have a aftermarket catback and i do get that popping backpressure but this is a whole other situation, for example (by the way i love when this happens because its so loud) that same popping you are talkin about and multiply that by what ever it takes to make you feel vibrations, thats how loud it is, i like....
