Changing MTF to Amsoil.
I am going to change my MTF fluid to Amsoil's MTF fluid. I hate this 3rd gear problem. I also heard that the first 500 miles of a new car's tranny is crucial to using proper fluid. Since Honda used the wrong fluid in the first place, I hope I didn't damage my FG2's tranny.
I will post results ASAP. |

I'm planning on doing the same. I don't have any of the tranny problems with my Si that some people are having, but I found with both of my previous Civics, switching to a higher quality synth/semi-synth greatly improved the shifting especially in the cold.
I don't think Honda used the "wrong" fluid. They use the same fluid for every single car no matter what model of car, the tranmission is in it or it's intended purpose. |

I'm sure there is a dealer locator on the site somewhere. A local Honda dealer should be able to supply you with the correct washer. I plan on using a magnetic plug just to pick-up any metal shavings that might be floating around. http://www.passwordjdm.com/product.a...on=1&P_ID=1109 |

Hey-
I have a post on similar, but changing to GM Syncromesh. I have an issue with weather or not to add the "Limited Slip Axle Lubricant Additive", which is recommended by GM for LSD applications. The product known as "GM Syncromesh with Friction Modifier" is not the same at all. The former is for LSD and the latter is for reducing gear wear, but won't do a thing for LSD. Input on this additive? Is it already contained in the Amsoil product or not? OK for LSD's per Amsoil? What do you think-add it or not??? Comment??? |

G.M. tech reply on product?
the GM product only works on GM gear oil fliuds not on front wheel drive. cause it is only for the rear drive, you have to check if there is an additive for the transfer case. 4x4 additive is actually good for any 1 or 2 leger car.
it made my dc4 01 better before. this was the fluids good for honda and acura tranny from 1989-now royal purple 20-50 syn & 20-40 reg oil castrol with Lucas transfer case additive. and winter royal purple 10-40 syn & 10-30 reg oil castrol Lucas tran. additive. Engine are almost same royal purple 20-40 syn. and 10-30 reg. oil castrol on summer. Cold run 10-40 syn & 5-40 reg oil. it will save your compression and secondary rings. have fun boys.
