An odd request, please.

Can someone post a sound or short video of their 06/07civic (Si or not) starting in 20+ (73+ US) temperature?

Reason why I'm asking because since I bought the my 07, it's been from +3 to -30 (35c to 1 degrees celsius) and it seriously sounds like its dying everytime I start it.

I would like just like to hear it sound normal otherwise I'm taking her in to the dealership. I can't stand how it takes 6-10 cranks to get a HONDA started. This isn't a COBALT.

I'm guessing your fuel is frozen. I'm surprised the car starts at all in that temperature.

Get yourself a oil/block heater from the dealer. That should do the trick.

It's not a cobalt, it's a cold engine. I find my block heater does help a bit.

My LX sedan in really cold weather has a hard time starting as well. Sounds like a slightly weak battery or batteries with no enough cold cranking amps.

Fuel can't freeze. I think at like -230 or something insane it gets really thick, but thats all...Thank God for all the useless knowledge in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader!

Haha, I know that fuel cannot freeze, it was intended as a little joke. But what I can see happening is the oil in the pan gets thicker which creates more work for the starter to move those crank journals through the oil in the block/pan. Also the metal parts are so cold that they contract a great deal putting more friction between parts.

I may be very off w/ my analysis so any info that will direct me in the right direction is appreciated.

Could it be the battery?

Could be because I've just noticed last night my positive terminal is VERY loose. I could easily pry it off with my hands. I tightened the bolt, and IT gets tighter, but the clamp doesn't.

Strange.

My battery clamps are on there super tight and it still starts like that. I even changed my spark plugs to colder ones and same problem.

The only real time I've had problems cranking was when I was really low on gas - 2 bars or less. Otherwise, the car has always been able to crank on the first try.
