your hearing air getting sucked into the engine... Ever hear that on an aircraft, you can hear it if you are seated in front of the cowls.

That's the likely possibility. What he's hearing is actually air being pulled into the engine by the intake.

I personally think its the whine that comes from the belts. My JDM 89 Si DOHC had the same whine and I loved it. Now I have an intake and exhaust on my Type R JSPEC Si-R its gone .

It's just the belt whine and/or internals going nuts.

I think it's from the transmission. If not it may be from the belts. My mothers Accord has the same whine to it. I think it's a 4 cylinder thing.

Not really. Sounds like he was bouncing off the rev limiter.

So does mine, but it didn't used to. It started doing it after I missed 3rd gear one time cause of the gear notchiness crap, and now it whines/whistling sound in 4th gear. I believe I have chipped something in the synchro and I'm going to take it in here soon. I took it in a while ago and had an appt to get it fixed but got busy and didn't keep my appt, but the tech who looked at it back then said it was probably an issue w/the synchro. If you ever missed 3rd shifting, you might want to have them take a look at it.
