flat spare

What should I do?

Today, I found a screw in the driver's side rear tire. I've got the roadside hazzard tire warranty so I wasn't worried about the cost. However, since the tire was half way to being flat, I decided to change the tire. As I open the trunk to get the spare....

The spare was flat!!!

I had to call AAA and the guy patched the flat and charged me 20 bucks.

Should I ask Honda to pay for the $20 because I couldn't use my spare? I've had my SI for about 2 months now. Why would it be flat?

heck yeah, Honda should pay for the flat tire! in fact, you should demand that they replace the spare.

A brand new car and a flat spare??That ain't right.

Your dealer should be on the hook for that.

Wow, I am going to check my spare. No spare should ever be flat on a new car. A person is suppose to check the spare about once a year anyway to make sure the PSI is right.

Yeah, I am going to go the other way on this. ALWAYS check your spare to make sure it is aired up. I check mine in a new car (because I've found 'dead' spares in two new cars that I purchased), and about once every 6 months.

I helped changed a flat on my co-worker's WRX on a business trip. The donut spare was at 35 psi when we checked. Much much less than the 60 psi it's recommended to be.
