mechanical noise ?

i just got a 2007 civic LX. When I turn on the wiper on "INT" mode, i can hear mechanical noise (like a clicking noise) when the wiper starts to move, and then another clicking noise when the wiper completes its round and goes back to the bottom of the windshield. It sounds like a switch noise controling whether the wiper is on or off. Is this normal?

I have an 07 ex sedan and I hear the same thing. I listened for where it came from and it was the fuse box area. It is probably a relay or something like that.

It is the relay clicking to turn the wipers on. The electrical connection being activated.

perfectly normal

just for some reason Honda put relly loud relays for the wipers and for the blinkers (actually for the flashers it is not a relay - it is completely artificial noise (speaker) just to make you aware that the blinker is ON but the flashlights are controlled electronicaly and ther is no relay).
I have no idea though why Honda thinks the Civic owners are semideaf or something (not as loud in other models Honda)

With something as high in current as a windshield wiper motor, it seems like the electronics would activate a relay to supply voltage to the wiper motors. It sure sounds like the click of a connection being made.
