Rev-hang and what the dealership said...
Took my car in to get a synchro checked out yesterday and I also mentioned the rev-hang issue and asked them to inquire about it. While the tech was driving my car to check out the transmission, he was telling me that the rev hang issue was an internet hoax and that they have never heard anything from Honda that would support the claims to an available reflash.
Is there anything you all could tell me real quick before I call back the dealership today? Thanks! |

Its not a technical reflash. its an update for your ECU.
With that being said, all it does is bring the 06 SI's ecu up to the 07SI's specifications, which takes away some of the rev-hang issues. This is why it was not a recall, but simply they would update your ecu if you had the issue and were within the affected vin range. |

its not DBW thats causing the problem its the programming in the ecu.
honda should really look into taking care of it. ive driven many dbw cars and none of them had any problems. 99% of people wouldnt even know they had dbw unless they were told. please stop blaming dbw, its just another improvement in technology and honda knows they have to keep up or they will be left behind. |

it is in the ecu- IIRC, the programming makes the car a cleaner more environmentally friendly car by burning excess gasses through shifts. |

Ever try building a race car that started as DBW? And yes, the programming is what's causing the TB to stay open too long and not begin to close the instant you take your foot off the gas. That's called DBW and poor programming from Honda. |

yea its the programming thats causing it not the nature of the dbw system.
my friends mx-5 has dbw and it doesnt have this problem. ive driven the m3, m5, and m6 and they all dont have the hang. im just saying dbw by itself isnt the problem its how the ecu is using it. |

Take a copy of this in and ask him if it is still an 'internet hoax':
![]() Damn service techs like that give all dealerships a bad name.

And make sure you go to the same guy, like he said, and ask him to take of the "internet hoax".
I would totally do that. I hate when people don't know what they are talking about and try and make you look stupid. Some people are so friggin ignorant. They tried to tell me the same thing and I just handed them the paper and they looked at it like it was written in chinese. Then they did my update and I could tell a difference, not totally eliminated, but definitely better.

Hello everybody yea i have to agree with dannn on the DBW issue at least for the 07' SI's even at 3thousand i get enough response, but that is probably because i was driving a 06' coupe ex auto and i really didnt like the response from that transmission it was like spooling for something then realizing its not a turbo hehe
Just my humble thoughts. |
