Burning Smell After Hitting High Revs.
Is anyone else experiencing this or not? I know I asked dentrecords and he said he can't recall anything like that. If I drive it hard, doesn't even matter for how long, I'll smell something. I can hit redline in just 1st and 2nd gear and it'll smell like crap.

Has to be the clutch. Stop burning your clutch. It is in your driving technique. Press on the gas after you released the clutch (completely). This will prevent you from buring it out and will eliminate this smell.
Otherwise, take it in for the dealer to look at. |

I think it's something mechanical or perhaps normal? I just don't suspect the clutch or the brakes because:
The first time it happened was when I zipped past my friend on the highway and there was no braking involved. I also make absolute sure I don't burn up the clutch while driving. I always make sure to only gas when the clutch has been fully engaged. It's just when I start to hit high revs. For instance, I'll drive 5 or so km at regular speeds and then while in top gear, I'll continue to climb and my car will stink afterwards. My friend was trailing me and we tested this the whole time. I do have an intake. Perhaps it's running rich as I don't ever recall smelling this prior to installing an intake. I'm not necessarily sure what brakes smell like at high speeds since I've never braked excessively hard at high speeds, but I have burnt a friend's clutch in the past learning standard and I'm pretty confident it isn't that. |

I may be mistaken but it might be something in the exhaust system. I used to work for a Honda Power Equipmet dealer and whenever we assembled generators out of the box we had to run them for about an hour before a customer took them home. The exhaust would "burn out" and smell like garbage. If we sent them with the customer without doing this then they would return and say that it's broken. I think Honda uses something wierd on their exhaust and when your getting on it, it raises the temp in the exhaust system to burn a little more of it off. Mine has 22,000 miles on it now and is just starting to quit stinking.
