i had the same problem 3X starting last friday. the 1st time it happened i was scared, it's not normal for me coz it had only 2K on my odo and its new right...

some people/dealer says it's normal? i think it's NOT normal coz in the long run, your battery will have a problem or the life of the battery will be shorter.

hope there is a good answer from honda, or a good solution to this.

for now, i'll try the key in ON position for a few seconds...

I was reading through some Honda service news articles and ran across this info describing no start symptoms....

"Just replaced the engine block, or did major engine surgery, and now the engine cranks but it won’t start or
you’ve got a DTC P2610 (ECM/PCM ignition off internal timer malfunction)?
Check ground G101. Corrosion or a loose or cross-threaded mounting bolt. could be the culprit. In DX, LX,
and EX models, G101 is mounted to the water outlet cover. In Si models, it’s mounted to the intake manifold."

Pictures and additional info are in the article here:
http://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SN/A080200.PDF

It could be worth checking for bad/corroded connection at that ground point.

2006 Civic Si. Had for 2 1/2 years and 38k miles and never had a problem. We had a terrible storm and the next morning I went to start it and it felt like the battery was going. Just cranked a few times before catching. Since then, everytime has sounded the same way and a few times I couldn't get it to start the first time and have to try again. Also had the engine die right after starting. Im a little leary to take to the dealership since my warranty is expired so any help will be appreciated. I will try the tip to turn the key and let the fuel and oil pumps go for a couple secs for the next couple days and report back.
