Plastic Bumper/Door handle Color not = Body Color

Does anyone else notice in these pictures and in person the Civic's Bumpers don't match the rest of the car? It's more noticeable in the rear bumper due to the size and angle. Also I notice that the door handles are off color and there are some flaws in the paint. Not a very good job overall.

The difference is between plastic and metal underneath the paint.

I've noticed this situation with the last couple of new cars I've had. I'll bet it has something to do with environmental/cost-cutting measures.

At least you're not alone...

I have seen other cars with plastic bumpers that are very close. But most of these civics are off by a shade or two. On my car the body looks more silver while the bumper looks more gray. I don't expect them to be 100% match but they are off enough for even an amature to notice.

My 06 GG LX sedan, in really bright light, the rear bumper color does not match the body color. In normal light you cannot tell. I just noticed this a week ago on a super sunny day!

I have only noticed this with silver and darker gray cars, not trying to pick on gg and satin silver or whatever its called these day, but to my eyes those are the two colors you can kinda tell a diffrence.

Haven't noticed it on my ASM Civic yet, but it's not just the Civic. My '06 silver Honda Odyssey is that way. In fact there is a thread on an Odyssey board with complaints about it as well.

Its every car. Toyotas are pretty bad, actually. Audi had a major problem that they couldn't get the lower parts of the bumpers to match the rest of the bumper and the car on the B6 A4 (when they offered the option of body colored or gray). VW in particular couldn't get the bumpers on the Imola Yellow 20th Anniversary GTI to match the car's color at all...many had to be repainted because the bumpers ended up coming out a greenish/yellow color. Its not the paint quality at all...its the mere fact that the color has to go on two different types of surfaces with different qualities.

I got a white fg1, and the color is pretty bad IMO. The rear bumper looks like what my neighbor refers to as an "egg-shell white." The front bumper isn't as bad as the rear but you can tell it's diff. from the body. After about 2months of being bothered by it, I'm finally getting it repainted this month. I just hope it comes out at least whiter than what it is now, or better yet match the rest of the car.

I have the same issue. Dealership said it's the difference between the material (as someone else noted). With that said, it is an egregious change from one to the other. I would never be able to put my car in a car show the way it is now.

I think the white shows the diff the best. It does have to do with the plastics. We have the same issues on the Acuras. Seems the darker colors show the least amount of contrast. Even the body shop has a hard time matching them when they paint.
