$1000 for replacing a rear control arm, and knuckle & front strut bolts?

I posted a thread back in October describing how i got run off the road, and forced to cross the median into oncoming traffic. Well i finally got to the dealership for a damage assessment. Both right side rims are bent, and the right rear (lower?) control arm is torqued waaay out of alignment. They cant align the front either, looks like the strunt mount bolts bent when i hit the curb dead on.
Originally they quoted me $1600 for the rims, lower arm, knuckle, & front strut bolt replacement, but that dropped to $1000 after i told em ill get my own rims.
I looked up the arm & knuckle online, i can get them for $300 plus shipping, not sure about the front strut bolts.
So is $1000 a fair price, or am i getting taken for a ride???
i have a friend who is an ASE certified mechanic & he's competent, but the car is brand frickin new & has all the drive by wire crap, not sure if it would be a good idea to let him mess with it.
Opinions?

If you can get the parts cheaper and your friend is a mechanic i'd say get your friend to do it. You should also check if your strut is bent.

If the car is new, shouldnt this be an insurance claim?

when messing with suspension parts...get it done correctly. just let the dealer do it, because it doesnt seem you 100% know what your doing or even the parts you need. the car will never drive correctly again if you dont do it correctly.

wow, this was almost a year ago......
I took it to the dealer, with a military discount it was down to 900.
As for insurance, my deductible is 1000 so its a moot point.
