DBW/Rev Hang possible fix - R18

For sometime now ive been buggin the hell outta my Honda
dealership aswell as Honda Canada for a fix for this damn
DBW/Rev hang problem....

Seems now they want my car in the shop to install the latest
software from the 07' models in hopes to fix this. I have
the civic goin in on this WED A.M and will get back to this
on any updates, upgrades, etc....

....crosses fingers!

Update: Dec06/06

Here is the invoice from the work done to my civic today which
states the ECU/PCM reflash.

its been a long and painful battle with Honda....

at first it was appointments to see wtf was wrong with this civic
then came long waits, and also contacted Honda Canada to
document this problem. Still....long waits, so i walked into Honda
as my salesman gave me a heads up when the DSM's were in.
I showed up and discussed the issues and the problem i found
besides the launch off the line was when parked up hill waiting
for an intersection light to change then getting the car to go was
a bitch! when you have a car basically on your ass when your facing
up a hill.....try not hitting the tard w/o hitting him from roll back
after the car bucks then goes?

anyhow, the wait continued until a day or 2 ago when i called
to see wtf was up?
they told me the DSM was supposed to have called me recently
for which he/she didnt....go figure!
but just told me to see what would happen with the newest update
in software from an 07' civic model.

this is a start but well see when the day comes i guess...
ill definetly keep this updated when i can!

DBW lag = 1st gear hesitation off the line
Rev hang = bring the RPM's up then shift...moments later the RPM needle moves. (pauses, delay)

sucks like a mofo

theres been various threads on the topic of DBW and its effects
but it litterly bucks you forward when you throttle it off the line
in 1st gear where its most noticeable. Ive felt it in 2nd aswell
but as far as a fix....not official yet, but atleast theyve offered
me a 07 reflash for now. its been like months and months since
ive purchased this car w/o any sort of help from honda.

so im hopin for some kind of resolve on Wednesday.

Good luck with your appointment Wed. Can't wait to see what they tell you. Im a little confused though. I think I'm reading this right but you have an R18 with the rev hang? Thats a first for me. I don't think I've seen an R18 with rev hang except yours.

DBW lag, oh hell yea, I hear you there. I hate the delay of this throttle, and look forward to anything that will improve that. On my LX, I've never seen the rev hang.

Mine does it too... I got an 06 LX Coupe. Makes the car sound retarded when you shift... or at least makes the driver sounds like he doesnt know how to shift. Its quite annoying. But from what I've heard the 07's still have the same problem... I guess we'll see

I feel ya on that one. Its all bullsh*t! Even Car&Driver pointed it out in a review of the 07 SI, I forget how they phrased it, something 'bout throttle lag. I think the whole DBW thing is stupid, they never shoulda done this. Isnt the whole point of it to transfer power to whatever wheel has more traction? Like during a turn or whatever? I find it extremely easy to break the tires loose during a turn, and I have an LX, so i think they f*cked up on that one.

this has been my #1 complaint since i bought this damn car....
i think honda should have just stuck it out with a damn cable
instead of this whole DBW crap that has nothin but problems
now for everyone. Now its up to us to fix a problem like this
on a NEW car??? BS

see, the weird thing is that lots of other cars had dbw, or tbw. It's only our civics that are like this -_-

07 camry

My sis has a 07 I4 camry, it also uses DBW. Had the exact same problems as the civic when coming off stops. But a tsb was released around september that totally got rid of the problem, it required the ecm to be reflashed. I was hoping honda steps it up and gets a tsb out there also.

I have an 07 LX sedan w/MT and I have the same DBW issues. This is just one of those stupid inventions looking for a place to happen; there was nothing wrong with a good 'ol fashioned throttle cable. Personally, I don't want some freakin computer second-guessing my throttle inputs and making overrides based on some wacked out computer algorithm. When I say go, it damn well better go. Bah, cars aren't cars anymore, they're nothing but computers with wheels.
