Weird Smell Just Started...

This morning, I got in my Si like usual and went to my tech class from 8-10:45. Once I got in my car to head home at 10:45 I noticed a weird almost rubbery smell. So I continued on to my regular high school and the smell is pretty damn strong.

Since I put Mobil 1 full synthethic in last month, I have to wait til about 3 to check the levels to make sure its not burning. (when the synthethic is hot, its really hard to see the oil level...)

Any ideas? I checked all my belts and they are fine..

My teacher suggested it could be the clutch...But at only 8100mi I'm doubting it..

Oil leaking somewhere, and dripping onto a hot surface?

I've been driving a standard for 3 years now. Both of my cars were/are manual.

I just checked the oil levels and they are a tad down but it's been about 1400mi since my oil change so thats normal.

I didn't notice the smell on the way home just 5minutes ago. I'll report back after work tonight.

Honda clutches are very sensitive but since you have been driving manual that long I don't think that it's that.

The pedal feels the same. In my 300ZX, I could feel it getting lighter then bam the cylinder went out.

3 years is plenty-o-time to master a MT. IMHO

Check for a plastic bag or something like that stuck on the exhaust pipe some where. That could exude a wonderful aroma.

I don't run it hard. I hit past 5K maybe once or twice a week.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. The stench that was emitted smelled as if there was a burning building outside or something.

I had that happen to me once as well. Thought it was the heater or outside air. I rolled down the windows and only smelled fresh air.

It seems to have disappeared for now but it's been snowing and with the heater on I can't really tell. So if I get out today, I'll run w/o heater to see if it's there. I haven't driven the past two days so yeah....

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I can figure is it was maybe the cat or something. It only did it that once and it was after I ran the piss out of it for about 3 miles during a race against an MR2. There were a few curves along the way which caused us to slow down to a snails pace and then hit it again, and I mean HARD. So my only conclusion was the cat was getting "broke in". I havent smelled it since. It was so strong, that I actually thought my car was on fire and pulled to the shoulder to check it out.

well, heres a long shot, but....I sprayed off my factory carpet floor mats ( in the summer) and I guess I didn't let them dry 100% before I put them in, and in a few days I got the nastiest rubbery-mildewy-butt-crack smell from the spongy whatever it is material on the bottom of the mats mildewing. I had to thouroughly febreeze them amd dry them to make it go away. Check under your mats, maybe you have a leak of some sort going into the carpeting? Just a shot....
