I'm not sure if it uses the same oil filter as older Civics. Just go to the auto parts store and tell them the year, make and model of your ride and they'll tell you which one to use. You don't need a new oil drain bolt. You need a drain plug washer (again, the auto parts store can tell you which one). Hope this helps:)

CaliGuy, you change the drain plug washer with every oil change? I haven't changed it myself on this car yet ...

P.S. Throbbing Member? I love it....

Your supposed to, but I've skipped it before in other cars and had no problem...

I change my drain plug washer everytime... they include the washer without even asking when I go in to buy the filter.

Changing the washer is just some very cheap insurance to help against any oil leaks. That is why I do it.

it's actually called a crush washer. it's designed to, well, crush a little to create a seal.

I didn't catch the year of your Car but changing the oil in an '06 Si is almost impossible. The oil filter is under and on the back (passenger) side of the oil pan. I can be done but be prepared to contort yourself.

Thankfully on no 06 SI's, it's a piece of cake. On my LX takes only 15 minutes :)
