Anyone have a lot of window glare?

Anyone else getting a lot of window glare from the dashboard in the windshield? I have an 07 GG ex coupe, and in almost all light I have a huge glare problem. I am not sure if it has to do with a particular interior color (grey here), but it is very distracting. In the right light you can see every detail of the dashboard in the windshield glare. This has to be dangerous because from time to time I see myself focusing on the reflection of the dashboard instead of the road. Anyone have any problems/solutions for this? Thanks

I don't think they did. Ironically if I do armorall the dash .. which makes it much shinier .. the glare is reduced a little bit.

What color interior do you have? Do all GG have the same interior?

Do you mean the glare from the speedometer and tachometer? I only experience it when my surrounding is completely dark...no street lights, no oncoming headlights. Other than that, no problems

Get some cheapo polarized sunglasses and the glare will pretty much go away (you can tell if you REALLY look). As for night time driving you get three glare zones: from the tach area, speedo area, and odometer. Unless you are willing to drive w/ polarized sunglasses at night (pretty stupid) you better get used to it.

Or you could turn down the lighting at night so there is no more glare. I have no problems with glare at night from any of those three areas.

You guys are misunderstanding me or I didin't explain very clear. This is not glare from any instruments. This is a reflection of the entire dashboard (Plastic) in the windshield at almost all times. It actually almost got me in a wreck last night. You can see a mirror image of the entire dashboard, in the right light you can make out every crease and detail of the plastic part of the windshield.

Do you think this is something I can take back to the dealer? Last night I was driving and every single street light I went under lit up the reflection of the dash in the windshield. So it was like every 10 seconds or so a giant flash of grey goes accross your windshield.

look here! lol
Hate to talk in bold, but this is what you do, and trust me it works:

Go buy a claybar kit that includes a detailer spray. Make sure window is cleaned (on the outside of course) before using this product. Spray liberally (out of direct sun) the detailer spray, one section at a time. Using the claybar, rub vigorously back and forth. If the claybar sticks, use more spray. Do this on the ENTIRE exterior windshield area.

You see, I had this exact same problem... Its actually little microdots of I have no idea wtf it is, probably in-transit dust, or rail dust, or industrial pollutants, tree sap etc.

I noticed this the first few days of driving my Si. Its at night time: every single light had a rainbow effect, and glare etc.

I claybarred my whole window, (actually my whole car - holy crap a lot of junk came off), and no more glare! TRUST ME IT WORKS! !!

+rep me! lol

PM me for anything if you need more claybar help, I am a professional detailer btw.

Sounds like good advice I will check that out.

In responce to Cybergypsy I think we may have different issues. Mine is far greater when it is sunny and bright outside. As far as turning down the brightness, there is nothing to turn down the reflection is not of any instrument panels it is the surface of the dashboard.

Yes I have the same problem. No matter how much you clean the glass it isn't going to help. I notice it in the rear window a lot too. The gray deck lid reflects on the back window and I hardly can see out of the window. I think the best fix might be sunglasses or maybe window tint. But I know exactly what you are talking about and I don't have a way to get rid of it. I think part of it happens due to the slope of the glass.

Stopping Glare

I used to get glare all the time driving East in the morning and west in the late afternoon. I bought a dashmat and it stops most of the glare. The mat is colour matched and contoured.

I also have it in the back window. I can see every hole in the speaker covers in the reflection on the back window. There are times during the day that it is hard to concentrate on the road cuz the glare is so strong on the front. It is almost worse at night in the city cuz you have hardcore glare when youi are under street lights then it dissapears for a couple seconds then pops back under every other street light.

Do you think HOnda would do anything about this? It seems like it is a big safety issue in my opinion. I wonder what the DMV would say about the safety of this.

I got the mat from the local auto shop supplier.

I live in Australia and these mats are quite common. I also just realised that they would not be compatibale with US cars because of the steering wheel position

I know what you mean. That glare from the dash is killer. It is the angle on the windshield that causes it. The glare from the rear windshield is pretty bad too, but not like the front. Honda won't do anything. You bought the car like that after test-driving it. Like I said earlier get some polarized sunglasses and it will pretty much go away. This is the ONLY thing I have found to work. Check out the fishing section at Walmart or other to get some cheapos for about $20 or you can go all out and get some Costa Del Mars for $150. While safety is a concern I doubt there is much anyone can do.
