either your brake pads breaking-in.....or the leftover taco-bell in the back seat.

No my car is not overheating.. car temp is fine....
and the smell comes from down where the clutch and the brakes are....
but do brake pads need to be broken in? So is this a normal thing? will it go away??

With only 600 miles, I'd take it right back to the dealer. A burning smell is definitly not normal

I talked about a smell in my car when I first got it and drove it HARD,

"I could smell a "hot rubber & engine coolant" kind of smell inside the cabin, probably from the belts and whatever else. It stayed there for a while actually and kinda worried me."

a reply to it was:

"the smell will go away it's just the new car burning smell, kinda like when u put a new exhaust on."

Something about an engine coating. But it was my first experience with that smell, so I dunno!

remember never to keep your foot resting on the clutch as you are driving along...it is a possibility you are holding the clutch down too long as you give it gas....

burning clutches always smell like ass and will never go away unless you drive properly (or they need to be replaced)

I've had four brand new cars with manuals. They were all funky for the first few hundred miles.

I experienced a similar smell last week at about 300-400 (don't remember exactly) miles on my car. It's bound to smell a little since all of the parts are just getting broken-in and heated. It's normal for most new engines to smell when they are getting broken-in. It should go away soon. If it doesn't or it's making you nervous, take it to the dealer. It never hurts to be overly cautous (unless the dealer hates you for coming in every day with a new complaint)...
