Everyone should mark their oil filters in some manner .. best way to tell if they are changing them.

Though it should be pretty obvious if you pick your car up and the filter isn't sparkling clean.

These filters have been tried tested and proven to last through to your second oil change.

Rumor has it that all "A" and "A1" services will not get a filter change.
That is exactly right. Honda is trying to be politically correct, even if it hurts the reliability of the car. Honda also knows that most people do not keep the car much more than 5 years, and will sell or trade their car well before this filter-change practice damages the engine significantly. So, people will just go buy another one, and keep Honda in business.

One thing is certain. The filter becomes more efficient at filtering contaminants the longer it stays in the car, but at what price. Once the filter reaches it's capacity, the filter's bypass feature will then send oil through the filter without filtering the oil. Very bad for any longevity!

Just my $0.02!
