Da KLEEN WUN!
Take it to the dealer claim from car insurance. Going to run you over 2g just for motor not including labor and supplies.

Wonder how the insurance said the car was totaled.

I had this same problem and my insurance just replaced the motor (60,+++K motor for a motor with 33K on it) and I have a CAI.

im gonna assume, interior damage as well.
sometimes insurance companies use dealer quotes for repairs, which would of worth more than the car...

Then that was one hell of a puddle. The one I crawled thru it was about 2 inches below my front bumper and was no where near getting into the car.

I thought insurance companies didn't cover floods caused by aftermarket CAI's

No, but if you have good relations with your local Honda dealer it might help.

My service adviser knew the adjuster that looked at my car and all he did was to check the carpets for moisture and then said get a used motor, which Honda did a refresh on. Going to the same dealer for 3 yrs helps a lot.

It was an 07 LX...Galves resale at auction with a branded rebuilt title is around $7800. To spend 75% of that on rebuilding and trying to return to the owner isn't worth the depreciation the owner would recieve on buybackThere's a ton of good cars out there, no one wants to buy a rebuilt used flood car...(Did that sound confusing?).

Here's what it is broken down:
Car value at trade in normal miles and normal wear and tear about $12,000
Take 60% of that (40% depreciation for branded title) you have $7200. the owner of the vehicle would get a check for about $3000 or given the full amount for the car $12000 and have the opportunity to buy the car back for more than likely around $5000. (based on their being no loan on the car) The owner would then be given the car and the ability to fix it, but the title is marked SALVAGE as would the appropriate carfax. Now you'd have to fix over $7000 worth of damage for $3000 on a car that's worth about $5000. If they total it they give the customer full trade in minus wear and tear (if any can be documented).

See why they totalled it???? It's easier (better with less aggravation) for the insurance company to total the car, and then sell it at auction as a flood damge car..They'll probably get about $5000 for it with no reprocussion..It's a win win win for everyone..

Owner gets a new car, insurance has a happy customer (hopefully) and insurance company gets to recoup some of their losses with no expense to do so..(auction buyer pays all fees on Salvage and Title issue cars)

Just a little FYI on the process...Good luck with the new car.. and keep away from the wet stuff..

Jeff

Unless water got into the car itself, I can't see it being salvaged.

My 07 LX Sedan had 66K on it and trade in was only like 8 grand, the motor with labor was 2,500 and my title is good and my rates didn't go up at all. No water got into the car
