Engine RPM at highway speed

This is probably a totally newbie question but i have never driven a car with a tach before let alone one with an engine like my new 07 Si. Is it normal for the engine to run at about 3200 RPM in 6th gear while going 70 mph?

Also, when starting the Si is it supposed to idle at 2k RPM and slowly decrease after a minute or so?

Thanks for the help. I realize i am being over protective but what can i say, I love my new car.

The engine is cold when it starts up, so the RPMs will be rather high at first to try to warm it up.

And yes, the RPM is rather high at highway cruising speeds.

if u want a lower rpm on the hwy. get the automatic civics... humming at around 2000rpm going 60mph...thats how u achieve 40mpg!
