it's a known problem with 06 si's too, that's weird they haven't fixed it for 2007's models...

I wonder how well the update works. Does anybody know someone who has had this update done from Honda? Hopefully, I can get my car fixed next week.

From VIN 2HGFG2...6H700001 thru 2HGFG2...6H707606

The parts I highlighted are the year on your VIN. These vins are still for a 2006 model. Yours would look like 2HGFG21537H0XXXXX if it is an '07. If it says 6 your dealer lied.

My vin has a 7 in it... The hesitation only happens when I haven't driven the car for a while, like in the mornings. The rev hang happens more often though.

Let it warm up for a while. I usually wait until there are 3 bars on the temp. It takes forever though.

Anymore, I can barely tell I ever had the thing done. What I hate, is say I'm moving forward in traffic, I'll creep up in first then put the car in neutral. The damned thing surges for a few seconds. Then it seems like the Tach needle is coming down as it sees fit. That is what annoys me most.

the rev hang is much worse on the pre flashed 06 Si, google some videos about it and you'll see.

Someone explained to me that it is a safety mechanism in reference compression issues. Lets see. When the engine is cold the whole engine compartment is more compact thus producing more power. But if that power band goes beyond certain RPM's the engine could slowly begin to develope wear and tear. As the engine heats up the surge will occur at a greater RPM. Most dragsters I know turn off thier engines before racing to get better times. However in the Civic, the Surge is like a rev limiter for protection. A friend who works for Honda explained this to me, but he also said that it's ok to do your reflash.

I have an 07. I really hate driving the car cold so I like to warm it up to 3-4 bars before taking off. I only really noticed a bad rev hang within the first 400-500 miles of the car, now it seems to have settled much better (1000+ miles). I don't think the 07 has that bad of a rev hang. Maybe I got more used to it.

The 07 model yr has the most current ecm program. Only the vehicles that fall within the VIN range listed in the bulletin are covered. For those 07 owners you may have to wait and see if Honda revises the bulletin to cover more vehicles. When the complaint isnt totally gone remember the quote above.
