they do it every 10 k miles or so. my mothers car has about 20 k, and it's pretty dark, needs replacing,
Btw, every car shoudl have a cabin air filter, at least the newer cars. it takes seconds to pull the filter out and inspect, if it's not white and clean, replace it, it's not expensive, and it will keep the car smelling and feeling clean |

I think they're supposed to be changed every 15k miles, that's my generalisation, not hondas spec. After 8 months and 22k miles I changed the cabin filter in my Ford Taurus and it was nasty, all the pleats where full of dirt and organic matter. I'm going to do every 15k with the civic. |

lol. it's not that much. how much was the car. The cost of this filter is part of maintance of a vehicle. You know vacuming that filter will not be nearly the same as a new filter. Ways of cutting corners liek this is what destroys these new cars. |

What are the part# other than Honda OEM parts. I can't justify spending over $40 for in-cabin filter. (more at local dealer or 35 or some plus shipping) I believe Bosch makes one for our car, but I can't find the part#. Those of you who have purchased after-market in-cabin filters for like half the price of OEM, please post any information regardingpart # and the brand for us. Thank you.

Just as a head's up, BCJ wrote up an excellent DIY on changing out the cabin filter: http://8thcivic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21949

Just a quick google took me here: http://replacement.autopartswarehous...ilter&dp=false
Looks correct, as the listing for the 2005 takes you to the separate right/left filters. I checked the Bosch site and apparently they do not yet make a filter for the 8th gen Civic. |

go to www.fleetfilter.com they sell NAPAGOLD filters at discount prices.
I've replaced my cabin filter and engine air and oil filters with the NAPAGOLDS. They fit fine. Cabin filter is about $10 from fleetfilter-buy a few. |

All the writing on the filter is the same except for the Honda Part number. The instructions in the box state the filter is designed for a 2003+ Honda Accord. It is an EXACT match. |
