Aftermarket Speakers

Hi first time poster here

From what I believe, the sizes are 6 1/2 for the front and back so I bought the alpine type-r components and coaxles. The problem, however, is that honda made the holes especially made for the stock speakers sizes (VERY shallow speakers). The depth of the stock speakers are like half the size of the type-r's. Now I went to A&B sound and they said I wont be able to fit them in the back and that they can't just raise them and build a special box to make them lift because they just wont fit. Are they full of shiet? What did you guys do? If it's true that I need special size speakers...which ones are worth buying?
Thanks.

P.S. It wasn't just the back speakers that I had the problem with, it was the front as well. A&B told me the front's were do-able though.

im running Polk DB650's on the front and used the factory speakers as
spacers. i just cut them up... a typical DIY trick.

for the rears, i left the deck speakers alone (they dont sound terrible)
and added a small active bazooka sub in the trunk.

stereo sounds pretty damn good for a mere $250 or so that i spent.
i can take the stock HU up to volume 30 and still no clipping.

speakers

You can get speakers in the front but you need spacers, and as for the rear lift the panel and in the trunk there is a bar in the way. its just a torsion bar for the trunk to make it easy to open. the passenger side i got in just fine and the driver side i had to cut the wrap around part of the torsion bar. bt it all fits fine. o and as for the alpine type r speakers they are junk. i had a pair and sold them. even after being ampd they still sucked. my Boston acoustic pro 6.5 from 6 years ago sounded better. i now have 2 pairs of boston z6 components installed. they sound great.

Is there a need to amp the Boston speakers. I had Infinity Reference series speakers bofore without amping and sounded great. Just wondering before I decise to make a purchase. Looking at Boston or Infinity Kappa, maybe reference series.

i had type rs in my previous civic, 03 lx, but they will work with the front right? with the crossover?

i'm planning on getting the components for the front. i will probably leave the rear alone as well.
