Air blowing in w/o it being ON.

Not sure if Its posted but here I go.

I rarely use my air conditioner or heater on my SI. When not in use(always) I keep it on the front defroster with the light being orange not green. Im guessing this means that its off. I always keep it there because anything else is basically gonna make the vents go on. The air flow knob is all the way in the Off position. But yet, I still get heat or cold air coming into my car depending on what temp I keep it at. Isnt the airflow supposed to stop? Or am I basically keeping the ac on all the time? Thanks

Do you have the recirc on or off? (Do you see an orange light above the car symbol with the arrow going around the interior?). I'm guessing you have the recirc off, so it draws in fresh air. Basically, its venting air into the cabin even with the fan off. If you press the recirc button, you won't get anymore air in the cabin. I use the vent often so I don't have to turn on the heat when it gets warm enough in the car (and I don't get really hot).

I've never had a car where some air didn't come out of the vents while in motion, even with the fan off.

Orange light = compressor is running (cycling) which = loss of power and fuel economy.

wrong. if the fan is off, its doing nothing. If the fan is on, if you've disabled the A/C+Defroster combination, you can have the A/C off...if you haven't, the A/C on and the compressor is running/cycling when you have it in the windshield defrost setting. The other orange light is the recirc, which has nothing to do with the A/C compressor.

There a button for internal circulation. If you push that button. The air stop coming into the car. When is OFF, the outside air will travel into the vent

So what would you do to stop air from coming in and saving gas. Dude the fan speed is OFF and the button all the way on the right is on(windshiels)And is orange. It wont go off if you press it twice and everything else turns green which I assume means off so the button I keep it on since day one is basically off. Also recirvulation is always off. I basically have the system running? Or is this what you do to turn off your WHOLE air system. I dont need it on.

brooklyncats: You can adjust the air to expel in the other vents i.e. head area, feet, etc. (green lights) and manually close the vents on the driver side or something.

That's what I do..
