Erratic Idle & Almost Stalling

I have 6000+ miles on my 06 lx sedan and I noticed today when having to stop suddenly or abruptly the car seems like it wants to stall.

Also, idle is starting to feel rough?

Just curious if anyone else has this or something like it?

Don't even mention going to the dealer as my car has been back 4 times with front right clunk, alignment issues, steering noises (loud clunks when cold in morning), etc etc. None have been fixed yet even with honda care assistance. Dealerships on the Island just plain suck!

I've felt this too, but it is too hard to reproduce so it's impossible to fix.

Um, it may not be the case, and I hope it isn't, but I had a similar problem with my SUV; where it had a rough idle if it stayed running, but would stall. The air filter had gotten too dirty, sucked up oil and screwed up the MAF. $400 MAF later and a new filter and it was running almost the way it should (still a little rough to this day though).

My $.02

Do you have an intake or is it bone stock?

I would try something like an intake cleaner or a electrical contact cleaner on the mass airflow sensor. Mine was like that on my old intake. Cleaned it and reset the ECU and all was good....

Thanks guys, bare stock.

No regular enough yet to bring it back and I would be shocked to have to clean the air intake with only 6000 miles.

Let's see what happens over the next few days.

yeah, i got an LX coupe and I've noticed the rough idle also. If you rev it just the slightest bit it goes away, but at idle the car vibrates...*sigh* annoying!

u may just need to raise the idle just a bit 50-100 rpms. id also say clean the TB but the milage is very low. and with the drive by wire systems its always harder to clean (or manually adjust the idle).

it's due to the cold weather in NY. That's the rough idle issue. Watch when spring comes along w/warmer weather, your idle will be just fine.
If not, seriously take it to hillside honda they have an AMAZING service. The people are very nice, very knowledgable and the girl who handles the paperwork is hott. Unless, someone has replaced her already :-/

few ideas.....

1. Check/clean plugs if necassary.
2. Check/clean MAS airflow sensor if necassary
3. Check/clean throttle body internals (with o2 sensor safe)
4. Aifilter may need cleaning

To be honest, 1000 miles later it's no big deal, it's not all the time, only on certain situations.

Only if it worsens I will take it in.

I cannot reproduce it all the time, and we all know what happens when you bring a car in and you or them cannot reproduce the issue. No service!

Oh, thanks for all your comments :)

The problem is the drive by wire throtle no cable no reliability when the fans come on the idle drops and then the computer?>ecu recalabrates to 800 rpm dont worry all drive by wire cars do this i was worried too but i work at a shop in so cal and i know its normal the only way to change it is to convert to a throtle cable

I don't know if this can be done man. My idle is too low for me, I'd love at least another 100 rpm, but a local dealer told me that the idle cannot just be raised a little. True or BS?

sounds like BS. try to give the mechanic a 20 and see what he says.

They probably couldn't do it. Our cars are dbw and it will probably need adjusting in the ecu to raise/lower the idle. It was possible on older cars with cable throttles with the use of an idle adjustment screw.
