First off, please use correct English when you post - it's a lot easier for us old farts to comprehend and subsequently answer. :face-icon

Now to your question:

Stop or brake lights are the brighter filament bulb that lights when you press the brake pedal.

Tail light is typically used to describe the entire lamp assembly, but can also be used to refer to the running lights which are the dimmer bulbs that are illuminated whenever the headlight switch is turned on.

Turn signal (depending on the configuration of the assembly) may use the same bright filament as the brake light, or may use a separate bulb. If I'm not mistaken, our 8th Gen Civics use the same bulb (and filament) for both the brake light and turn signals.

Hope that helps.

Ummm, nope, with respects, that's wrong. The part about the brake and turn signals being the same on 8th Gen Civics that is.

I just wired my car for a trailer and the brake lights and turn signals are seperate circuits. The tail lights have two bulbs, one on the trunk lid and the other on the body itself, just outboard of the trunk lid on each side. The brake lights work off a dual element bulb where one filement is brighter than the other (as you described) and they're behind the body mounted lenses. The turn signals are also body mounted and they operate just below the tail/brake lights, outboard of the backup lights.

FWIW! :)

stoplights are up in the air on wires. they are red, yellow and green.

green means go
yellow means hurry the **** up before it turns red
red means stop

tail lights are on the back of your car.

Respectfully as well, but it depends. Both of us need to qualify which car we mean. On my Si Coupe, there is no trunklid mounted light (well, there's the wing mounted CHMSL but I don't count that.) Apparently you have a 4-door, so you have both body and trunklid mounted lights.

Upon further investigation (I got my wife to work the lights on my car) The running/stop light is a dual-filament bulb. The turn signal is a separate orange bulb that shares the clear center part of the lens with the backup light.

I learned something new here. I guess I've never followed an 8th gen coupe...

Edited to update new info - I got off my lazy tushie and went to look.

So really, both of us gave correct answers - it just depends on which body style samx109 has.
Ooooo, didn't think of that. I've not paid that much attention to the Si's styling relative to my sedan since it wasn't a car I was interested in, in the first place. But you're right, I do have the 4-door and what I said works for it!

Sorry if I caused any confusion. :)

Drive Safe,

What's wrong with that? The owners manual says the car is good for 1000 lbs on the trailer with a 100 lb tongue weight. I'm into radio controlled model airplanes and helicopters and I used to have a minivan for hauling them around. The van was getting rather long in the tooth and when gas prices were going through the roof I started looking for something a bit more economical. I chose the Civic sedan and haven't been disappointed with it. Now that gas prices have come back down for the time being, I'm really enjoying filling the car up for less than $20.

I bought a light utility trailer and am building a box to hold my stuff. I don't think I'll have any problems keeping the total weight under the car's rated capacity.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.
