I was cleaning the interior today and it was hot so I turned the car's battery (key turn 3/4 way, without starting the engine) and had its radio and fan running for about an hour and half. At the end, the radio started powering itself off (like it was dimming and turning off), so I turned off the ignition.
After that, I tried starting the car, and the car wouldn't start. The power would turn on and the engine would make a repetitive startup sound (like a very quick repetitive sound loop), but wouldn't run (engine wouldn't run). Is my battery dead? Do I need to replace a battery? Thanks |

yes, it sounds like ur battery is dead, first of all try to jumpstart it via another car, then drive it around for about 30min, and try to drive it more frequently so the battery can recharge, and wont die.
if ur battery keeps dying then you might need to replace it. |

I asked at another forum and they said that I don't need to replace my battery? They said that I just need to jump start my car and everything will be fine.
If I jump start my battery, will it run ok for a while, and if so, for how long? Last thing I want is to be stranded somewhere with a dead battery/car.. When I turn the ignition, everything runs except for the engine.. If I turn the air-con on with the radio on as well, the radio starts to die and turn itself off. When I turn the air-con off, the radio turns itself back on, so I think it's just a battery losing its charge. Is there a way to start the car up/charge the battery without using a jump start from another car's battery? Last edited by richardcwc; 12-12-2009 at 05:12 AM. |

Your alternator doesn't really do a good job of charging your battery. Your battery should be fine, but will need to be charged by a battery charger, otherwise your battery will be constantly low.
