The passenger side motor mount on my 2006 Honda Civic Coupe LX is now shot ! how hard is it to replace it with a new one ? I just ordered the new OEM part from the dealer but I don't want to be ripped by the dealer with their exagerated costs, so I'm planning to replace it myself, does any body knows if it's hard and how hard ? Thanks in advance !

Thanks NickC89, that's the graphic that I saw at the dealership's web site when ordering my new motor mount, but I need to know if any one here have changed a motor mount before and how tough would be !

alright all seriousness.... If you didn't know what to do... or aren't fond of Renchin... I wouldn't attemp this... a engine is heavy azz hell and you would want to bend or damage other mounts... I would look for a local shope that could help you out if you don't wanna pay the dealership.... Otherwise all you need is a series of torque renches... and air tools... who know a strong Jack... jackstands, a lift, maybe even a Engine hoist...

Even though you havnt done a motor mount before, are you mechanically inclined and have proper tools? If you are, get a service manual. It will help you alot.

1. Support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.
2. Remove the bolt (A) securing the A/C line, then remove the upper torque rod (B). 3. Remove the ground cable (A), then remove the side engine mount bracket (B). 4. Install the side engine mount bracket, then loosely tighten the new bolt and nut (C), and loosely tighten the bolt (D). 5. Install the ground cable. 6. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly. 7. Loosen the transmission mounting bolt and nuts (A). 8. Raise the hoist to full height. 9. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A). 10. Lower the vehicle on the hoist. 11. Tighten the side engine mount mounting bolts and nut. 12. Tighten the transmission mounting bolt and nuts. 13. Raise the hoist to full height. 14. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt. 15. Lower the vehicle on the hoist. 16. Install the air cleaner housing assembly. 17. Install the upper torque rod (A), then tighten the new upper torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown. 18. Install the bolt (B) securing the A/C line. |

Update: Well, my personal mechanic just replaced the motor mount for me and the problem is now completely solved ! All the weird sounds have gone. Just paid $96.00 including shipping for the oem motor mount from hondaautomotiveparts.com and like $30 dlls for the labor. The mechanic just took like 2 hours to complete the job, and now my lovely car feels new again ! Thanks to all for all your advice ! Have a Great Holiday and God Bless this Forum and all it's members !

Symptoms on mine were: Noises coming from the motor mount area when hitting potholes, a little vibration when turning on the motor on the car, and little vibrations when idling, all of that is now gone !
