Can't open trunk!

I've got a 2006 Civic EX and I can't get my trunk open. The lever by the drivers seat won't open it. The lock by the lever is in the unlocked position. When I press the trunk button on the key, I can hear the latch activate, but nothing happens. I've tried pulling up on the trunk as the latch activates, but no luck. Tried pressing down on the trunk as the latch activate, but no luck. I've got "stuff" in the trunk that I can't get out. Anyone with any solutions?

since its an 06 do you have a keyhole??

climb in the trunk
then use ur feet 2 push it open
