Mugen Si Clutch

Ok so the clutch has gone out on my 08 mugen si. there are only about 11,000 miles on the car. it happened yesterday while i was driving to the grocery store. it snowed pretty heavily here in central kansas the last couple days so i got slowed up a bit in some places and had to spin the tires to keep it going. i called honda today and they said it probably wouldnt be warrantied. i asked for an estimate and they said a 1000 dollars!!! i dont have that kinda money to be fixing my car. i was only driving through a couple inches of snow. the other deal is that i have to transport it 2 hours to the nearest dealership. any suggestions? if i end up not taking it to them and just putting in a different clutch what do you all reccomend? i plan on doing pretty much all of the bolt on mods that i can... intake, exhaust, hondata flashpro, mayb a header? those kinds of things. i dont want to get into the engine at least not for quite awhile... thanks

bro fack Honda they told me the same and i said hell no just buy a oem or act or w.e name brand u want and install it yourself, if you don't have any idea on how to do it pay a shop. trust me it will cost $300 - $500 dollars less. trust me.

i recommend a stage two clutch. best to use a lift. you'll also need a hoist. may need a transmission jack.

Nobody claimed they paid $450, he said his boss saved about $450.

do not get a stage 2 clutch for a stock/bolt ons car. Get a stage 1 or oem. stage 2 isnt needed unless you are pushing over 250hp, and trust... we wont be getthing those kind of numbers in our cars with straight bolt ons. Stage 2 would really prove to be more of a pain then anything. By the time you start messing with the motor (boost maybe?) you will need to get another clutch anyway.

also... +1 on aftermarket shop doing the work too. I wouldnt change a clutch myself because its a biatch to change the clutch if you dont have the right tools. Better spend a bit of money and have the right people do the work, then you risk hurting yourself or your car.

I'm confused...how does a car with 11K on it not have a part replaced under warranty?I know that clutches go out but not that damned quick,I'd call HOA and raise hell.

thats the thing...11k is really early for the clutch going out. That would usually point to abuse of the clutch.

Ride the clutch any? 11K is insane...at that rate you will have to replace the clutch a little under 10 times within your SI's 100,000 mile lifespan....ouch.
Good Luck!

My transmission went out after 26k miles. go figure. And I only drive the car around town on weekends and a couple long roadtrips per year.

i'm sorry to the OP, but did u beat the shat out of the car or did u learn how to drive stick on it? no offence though i hope you don't take it to the heart, cause 11k is way too low. my last civic i had a act for 35k and my mugen is running on the oem at 27k. same as new, IMO.

This is weird.

The later Si have a softer clutch compound or drivers doesn't know how to properly use a manual trans?

Mine is 06 with almost 60K on the odometer and the car still spin tires on second like new. I drive on the city with a lot of hills and heavy stop&go traffic everyday.
